Materials:

 8 x 12 Oval base W/ 12 x 12 MBR Supplied by C & D BASKETS

1/2" Flat Reed for Stakes

1/4" Flat Oval Reed for Weavers

1/2" Flat Oval for Rim

3/16" Flat Oval for Lashing

#3 Round Reed for Stabilizing row

#3 Seagrass (rim filler)

Preparation:

-Slightly wet the stakes by dipping them into a pan of water.

-Insert the 22 stakes into the base (spacing them evenly around base)

-Twine around the base for 4 row using # 3 round reed to lock stakes into place.

-Weave 14 rows of 1/4" flat oval, following the curve of the handle as your weave up the curve in the attached handle.

Use one of the three variations for the next step:

Variation One:  

3 rows of colored 1/4" Flat Oval

1 row 2" Ash 

3 rows of colored 1/4" Flat Oval

Variation Two:

1 row colored #2 round reed

1 row colored 5/8" flat reed

1 row 2" Ash

1 row 5/8" flat reed

1 row colored #2 round reed

Variation Three:  (Shown Above)

1 row colored 3/8" flat reed 

1 row natural #2 round reed

1 row colored 1/4" flat flat or flat oval

1 row natural #2 round reed

1 row colored 3/8" flat reed

The next step, no matter which variation you choose, is to weave 3 rows of 1/4" natural flat oval.  

Weave 1 row of 3/8" flat for the rim row.

Cut and tuck stakes to get ready for the rim.
