10" Round Pine Base & Small Bushel Handles Supplied by C & D BASKETS

1/2" Flat Reed for Stakes

1/4" Flat Oval Reed for Weavers

1/2" Flat Oval for Rim

3/16" Flat Oval for Lashing

#2 Round Reed for Stabilizing row

#3 Seagrass (rim filler)

Preparation:

Cut 32 pieces of 1/2" flat reed at 8" long for stakes of the basket

16 of these stakes should be dyed a color of your choice. Leave the others natural.

Weaving Instructions:

-Insert the 32 stakes into the base (spacing them evenly around base alternating dyed and natural)

-Slightly wet the stakes by dipping them into a pan of water.

-Twine around the base for 1 row using # 2 round reed to lock stakes into place.

-Upstake.

-Weave 5 rows of 1/4" Flat Oval Reed (Natural)

-Weave 2 rows of 1/4 Flat Oval Reed (Dyed)

-Weave 1 row of 1/2" Flat (Natural)

-Weave 2 rows of 1/4 Flat Oval Reed (Dyed)

-Weave 5 rows of 1/4" Flat Oval Reed (Natural)

-Weave 1 row of 1/4 Flat Reed

-Cut and tuck the stakes.

-Insert handles evenly spaced in basket.
