Materials:

8" Round pine base with 8 x 12 MBR Handle Supplied by C & D BASKETS

3/4" Flat Reed for Stakes

1/4" Flat Oval Reed for Weavers

1/4" Flat Oval Reed Dyed for Weavers

1" Flat or Ash strip for Weavers

1/2" Flat Oval for Rim

3/16" Flat Oval for Lashing

#2 Round Reed for Stabilizing row

#3 Seagrass (rim filler)

Preparation:

Cut 22 pieces of 3/4" flat reed at 10" long for stakes of the basket

Weaving Instructions:

-Insert the 22 stakes into the base (spacing them evenly around base)

-Slightly wet the stakes by dipping them into a pan of water.

-Twine around the base using # 2 round reed to lock stakes into place, continue twining until you come out just past the bend in the attached handle.

-Weave 1 row of 1/4" Flat Oval Reed (natural) (Starting on the outside of the handle)

-Weave 1 row of 1/4" Flat Oval Reed (dyed)

-Weave 1 row of 1" Flat or Ash strip

-Weave 1 row of 1/4" Flat Oval Reed (dyed)

Weave 3 row of 1/4" Flat Oval Reed (natural) 

-Cut and tuck the stakes.
